Space Marines are the supreme warriors of the Imperium. They are superhumans, genetically modified to become exceptional fighters, as far from human as steel is to clay, they are incommensurably stronger and more robust than ordinary human beings.
Even when fighting alone, a Space Marine is a formidable opponent capable of defeating an enemy many times superior in numbers. Thanks to years of rigorous training, a Space Marine's body and mind become those of a supreme warrior. His talents and skills far exceed those of an ordinary human. Thus transformed, the Space Marine is nothing like the one he protects, no longer mortal in the truest sense of the word. Part of his heritage comes from the Immortal Emperor, and a fragment of their majesty runs through his blood.
The Mechanicus acknowledge the Emperor of Mankind as the ruler of the Imperium of Man, but not the religious truth of the Imperial Cult or the Ecclesiarchy, and are granted an unusual amount of political and religious autonomy within the Imperium's structure, a role protected by the ancient Treaty of Mars.
The Mechanicus essentially maintains an empire-within-an-empire in Imperial space, and its interests usually, but not always, coincide with those of the wider Imperium.
The Imperial Guard is the backbone of the Imperium's military power, made up of millions and millions of trained men and women, organized into thousands of regiments.
Bayonet to Laser Rifle, they stand on distant battlefields or station on vital planets. They are the Imperium's first line of defense, and have struck the first blow on numerous crusades. These regiments are formed by large-scale mobilizations on imperial worlds.
Imperial Knights are colossal war machines that tower over the battlefield. They are propelled into battle by powerful servos and have the power to kick over tanks and crush soldiers into red paste
Knights are not mere war machines, but relics from a lost age, armoured giants from a forgotten era. One does not drive such an heirloom -- it must be bonded with. Only a Noble from an ancestral knightly house may have such an honour.
Sisters of Battle
The Adepta Sororitas are only a part of the Ecclesiarchy, and while the Cardinals, Missionaries and Priests are responsible for spreading and maintaining the faith of the Imperium, the Sisterhood has only one mission: to preserve his holiness.
She does not care to convert the citizens of the rediscovered worlds or to deliver sermons to call on the plebs to resist the temptations of heresy. His sacred duty is to annihilate those whose lack of piety robs them of all hope of redemption.
The Titans are the supreme fighting machines of the Imperium, adamantiumcovered gauntlets. They are armed with dedicated warriors, armed with the most powerful weapons the Imperial Technopriests can devise, and armed with Energy Shields, nearly impenetrable barriers of energy. Across the Imperium and beyond, nothing inspires more fear.
